Google alerts can be used in many different ways. Here is a way where you can find out who is talking about any phrase or keyword you may want to target.

As soon as you set up an alert, you will be sent information relating to the phrase or keyword you put in as soon as google index’s it. This means you are getting targeted information from directly where people are talking about  your search phrase, directly  to your inbox.

If you want to be more specific in your results, put quotes around the keyword or phrase.

Once you find out where people are talking about your topic, you can interact and leave a trail back to your own website. This saves you so much wasted time in just posting to any forum, blog or discussion group.
